Belagavi, Feb 11 :Former Karnataka Minister for Higher Education Basavaraj rayareddy today alleged that the bifurcation of Viswesvaraya Technology University (VTU) plan is very dangerous development and injustice will be meted out to students from North Karnataka if the plan was implemented.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said that the State government should reconsider its decision to bifurcate the VTU and set up at Hassan District should be immediately reconsidered and dropped immediately.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy submitted a good budget, but VTU bifurcation is not correct and if it is implemented it will be a great insult to the people of North Karnataka.
In all 217 colleges are affiliated to VTU, this includes 14 government colleges and more than four lakh students studying in VTU. If it is bifurcated more than 160 colleges and more than four lakh students will go to Hassan district, remaining 50 to 60 thousands students in VTU. (UNI)
