Opposition BJP urges the Karnataka Assembly Speaker to reconsider his ruling for SIT probe on audio tape

Bengaluru, Feb 11: The Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ruling JD(S)-Congress members traded charges on the issue over the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speakers suggestion to the State Government to institute probe by a Special Investigation Team into the Audio-tape conservation.

As soon as the house re-assembled after lunch, the BJP members led by J Madhuswamy and Basavaraj Bommai, vociferously demanded the Speaker to reconsider his ruling on the issue.

Maintaining that the probe order issued by the Speaker, by an Agency controlled by the Chief minister, will not bring out the truth and may be utilised for political purpose, the BJP leaders appealed to the Speaker to reconsider his ruling on the issue.

Strongly opposing the BJP members argument on the issue, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Krishna Byregowda and others treasury members accused that BJP members stating that they are afraid of the truth coming out and its consequences are misleading the House and also made a plea to the Speaker not to succumb to the BJP members pressure tactics on the issue.

As commotion prevailed with members indulging in verable attack on each other, the Speaker adjourned the house for 30 minutes. (UNI)
