Six people injured, Suttur Mutt Seer escapes unhurt in Nitrogen Balloons blast

Mysuru, Feb 5: As many as six people, including MLC Marithibbegowda, were injured while Sri Deshikendra Swmaiji of Suttur Mutt escaped unhurt, when nitrogen balloons exploded during inauguration of Wrestling Competition during Suttur Fair on Tuesday.
The incident took place during the inaugural ceremony of the Wrestling Tournament, held as part of fifth day the annual six-day Jathra Mahothsava, popularly known as 'Suttur Jathre' or 'Suttur Fair' held on the banks of Kapila River in Nanjangud Taluk, about 28 km from here.

The Nitrogen gas filled balloons,brought for inaugural function, exploded as it came in contact with flames of 'Sports Torch' accidently. Besides, Marithibbegowda, Kalmalli Shivakumar, Hoskote Devanna and 3 others sustained minor burn injuries and they were treated at the Primary Healthcare Centre at Suttur immediately.

Suttur seer speaking to newsmen on the spot said the incident was unfortunate and he escaped without any injuries. Injured have been treated in the festival dispensary itself. He appealed to the devotees not to panic. The Wrestling competition was held after some time.

Immediately after receiving the news about the incident Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and other State Ministers enquired about the incident by contacting the seer over mobile.UNI
