Bengaluru, Jan 25 : Three of the four Congress MLAs, who had defied the Party’s directions to attend the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting held recently and on whom showcase notice were served, have communicated that they have no plans to leave the party.
According to the party sources, three rebel MLAs, including Ramesh Jarakiholi, Nagendra and Umesh Kumatur, in their identical reply to the notice had stated that they will remain in the party. Another rebel MLA, Dr Umesh Jadhav, had conveyed on the day of the CLP itself that he could not attend it due to health issues.
Confirming about receiving the replies for the notice, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is also CLP leader said that “we are examining the replies and will take appropriate action”.
It may be recalled that in the background of the alleged ‘Operation Lotus’ by the Opposition BJP, the CLP leader Siddaramaiah had convened party Legislators meeting last week, to demonstrate the unity of the Congress MLAs.
However, the party had received a jolt, when four of its MLAs, rebelled against the party leadership and abstained from attending the meeting. The BJP is reportedly eyeing on wooing the rebel MLAs in its efforts to topple the JD(S)-Congress coalition government in the State. (UNI)
