Winnability is the criteria of Congress-JDS candidate: KPCC Working President

Bengaluru, Jan 4 : Exuding confidence that Congress-JD(S) combine could win majority of Lok Sabha seats, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Working President Ishwar Khandre said that party High Command will take initiative on holding talks with the JD(S) leaders shortly on seat sharing.
Speaking to UNI here on Friday, Mr Khandre, expressing confidence that there will not be any hitches in working out for seat sharing, said that “Winability of each candidate in each of the Lok Sabha constituency should weigh for the allocation of seats”.
Stating that the Congress and JD(S) have came together to form the government in Karnataka to keep the communal forces at bay, he said that “the process will be taken forward in the coming Lok Sabha elections also”.
He said that the AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal, who is also party incharge for Karnataka will kick start the process of shortlisting party’s probable candidates by convening a meeting of senior leaders of the party from Mumbai-Karnataka region next week.
“Initially we will shortlist three names of probable candidates after getting inputs from the region-wise meeting attended by the party’s senior leaders, office bearers and elected representatives” he said.
Playing down on the demand of the JD(S) leaders for 12 Lok Sabha seats out of the total 28 seats from Karnataka, he said that “It is better not to put any conditions before holding a formal meeting on seat sharing”.
“The Congress-JD(S) combine can easily win a minimum 25 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha poll from Karnataka” Mr Khandre added.
