Agency News

Mysuru, Dec 11: The Staff of Chamundeshwari temple, atop Chamundi Hills, have threatened to launch indefinite agitation from December 14 in protest against the failure of the authorities to revise the salaries.

Chamundeshwari Temple Employees Association Secretary C S Vishwanatha said the temple draws a large number of devotees every day, which has increased the workload of the employees. The income of the temple has also increased multi-fold in recent times. But, the wages paid to the staff have remained stagnent.

Though they had made several representations to the authorities including Chief Minister and Minister for Muzrai and Secretary to the Department of Muzrai, their demands had not been met. Hence, a total of 220 employees of the Chamundeshwari temple, besides the temples in Mysuru Palace and Uttanahalli, will launch indefinite agitation from from December 14. “Though there won’t be any problem for darshan, there won’t be any sevas after we go on strike”, Mr Vishwanatha said.
