Bengaluru, Dec 7 : Sri Shivakumara Swamiji the centenarian head of Sri Siddaganga Math in Tumakuru, was airlifted on Friday to Chennai for treatment after he suffered gall balder infection and fever.
The seer was taken in an Air Ambulance from HAL Airport. At Chennai he will be admitted to Rela Institute of Medical Centre for treatment.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara called on the 111-year-old Swamiji at the Math in Tumakaru and inquired about his health. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy is also in close touch with the junior seer of Siddaganga Math getting updates of his health and arranged for his travel to Chennai on an Air Ambulance.
Yesterday, a team of Doctors led by Dr B S Ravindra of BGS Global Hospitals called on the Swamiji at the Math. Another team of Doctors, including Siddaganga Hospital and Research Centre head Dr Parameshwarappa decided to take him to Chennai for a consultation with liver transplant expert Dr Mohamed Rela.
Earlier in the week, the Swamiji underwent Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography (ERCP) with two more stents placed in his bile duct at BGS Gleneagles Hospital, after which he was discharged on December 3. In all 11 stents have been inserted in his body till now. (UNI)
