Question paper leak: 115 Civil Police Constable job aspirants remanded

Bengaluru, Nov 27: The ACMM Court has remanded 115 Civil Police Constable job aspirants to 7-day judicial custody on charges of 'purchasing' Question papers for Civil Police examination with answers held on November 25 at various centers in Karnataka.

The Judge also remanded kingpin Shivakumaraiah, who was absconding during the raid and arrested yesterday, to a 7-day CCB custody.

Central Crime Branch (CCB), Assistant Commissioner of Police Venugopal, on getting clue on Nov 24 raided Kalmutt Nanjundaswamy Educuation Institute at Shanivarasanthe, Somawarpet Taluk, Kodagu in Karnataka and arrested Basavarju who had indulged in the crime. Four Mini buses and One car was seized.

During interrogation Basavaraju had confessed to have stolen the question paper and supplying it to job aspirants with answers by collecting Rs 6 lakhs to Rs 8 lakhs. The job aspirants who had assembled near the room were also arrested. Following the Question paper leak the Civil Police examination scheduled for November 25 was postponed.

During the raid the main accused Shivkumaraiah had escaped and he was nabbed yesterday and was produced in the Court today.

All the 115 job aspirants, who were arrested during the raid, were brought in buses from Sakaleshapur where they were kept in jail and were produced before the Court today.

Shivakumaraiah, had earlier involved in leak of Pre-University examination question paper in 2016 and case was booked against him under stringent Karnataka Control of Crimes Act (KCOCA) 2000. He however had obtained bail. (UNI)
