Criminal sustains bullet injuries

Kalaburgi, Karnataka, Sep 16: The Prime accused in a murder case sustained bullet injuries in an encounter with police near Kerebhosaga village on the outskirts of the City early on Sunday.

Two police personnel were injured when the accused attacked them with lethal weapons. Superintendent of Police N Shashikumar said that the accused Nagaraj was wanted in extortion and several murder cases including Siddoji Bhosle murder case. He was the main accused in Siddoji murder case and he had murdered his friend Siddoji on September 11 on financial matter.

The police team got a tip-off that Nagaraj was hiding in Kerebhosaga village and a team led by PSI Chowk police station S S Hiremath rushed to the spot and surrounded him near Aland ring road. Nagaraj tried to escape and attacked two constables, Ramesh and Siddaraju , with lethal weapon. In self-defence Sub-Inspector S S Hiremath first opened in the air and then shot at his hand and leg. The injured constables were shifted to a private hospital, while the accused was shifted to the District Government General Hospital.

A case has been registered at the Chowk Police Station. (UNI)
