Ban on Tourists visit to flood ravaged Kodagu District lifted

Madikeri, Karnataka, Sep 9: The Kodagu District administration has lifted the ban on entry of tourists to the District from tomorrow ( September 10).

Following flood devastation which threw normal life out of gear due to South West Monsoon that lashed the District from August 13 to 20 had claimed the lives of 16 people and thousands of people lost their house and properties. The frequent landslides at many places had forced ban on tourists visit.

Deputy Commissioner P I Sreevidya, in a release here on Sunday, said that the ban has been lifted due to decrease in rains over the past few days.

However, she has advised tourists not to visit popular spots such as Abbey falls, Mandapatti, Mutlu, Hamiyala, Hattihole and Thaadi Yandomoi as the connecting roads, which were devastated by floods, are yet to be restored and it was dangerous to travel on such roads. (UNI)
