Congress leader and sitting Bermo MLA Rajendra Singh passes away

Bokaro/Ranchi, May 24 : Senior Congress leader and sitting Bermo MLA Rajendra Prasad Singh today breathed his last in Fortis Hospital in Gurgaon. Mr Singh, who was battling ailing health, was admitted at a private hospital in Ranchi from where he was airlifted to Delhi and admitted to Fortis Hospital Gurgaon on May 2.

Several politicians including former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, State BJP president Deepak Prakash have expressed their grief on the passing of the leader.

Rahul Gandhi in a tweet said that he was sad to hear the news of the demise of senior Congress leader and former minister Rajendra Singh. He offered his condolences to the family in the time of grief.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Twitter said that he was pained by the news of the demise of Bermo MLA and senior Congress leader Rajendra Singh Ji. He said that Jharkhand has lost a dedicated leader and true servant with his death. He prayed to the almighty to rest his soul in peace and give strength to the family members to overcome the burden of the loss.

State BJP president Deepak Prakash said he was extremely hurt by the death of senior leader, former minister, sitting Bermo MLA and his elder Rajendra Singh. He prayed to the almighty to rest his soul in peace and also offered tributes on behalf of the entire party.

Health Minister Banna Gupta said that he was in pain following the demise of Rajendra Singh Ji who was like the guardian of the party and was a father figure to him. The party has lost its guardian and he had suffered personal loss in his death, Mr Gupta wrote on Twitter.

Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Ravindranath Mahto has also expressed his grief following the demise of senior Congress leader and has prayed to the almighty to rest his soul in peace. Mr Singh was elected from Bermo seat in December 2019, his 6th term in the assembly. He had represented Bermo for four consecutive terms from 1985 to 2005 and later got elected in 2009 and 2019.
