Ranchi, May 13: To mop up resources the Jharkhand Government has decided to increase petrol and diesel prices in the state by Rs 2.50 a litre. The commercial tax department has issued a notification in this regard in which VAT on high speed diesel and light diesel has been fixed at 22 per cent or 8.37 paisa whichever is more.
For petrol, it is 22 per cent VAT or Rs 15 per litre. With this the Rs 2.50 relaxation given to the oil companies has been taken back. On Tuesday price of diesel was Rs 63.70 per litre while that of petrol was Rs 68.84 per litre.(UNI)
