BJP leader Babulal urges CM to cut Covid test feein private labs

Agency News

Ranchi, May 7: Leader of legislature wing of BJP Babulal Marandi has written a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren asking him to issue necessary directions so that fee for testing of Covid-19 in private laboratories in the state is reduced from the existing Rs 4500.

He said that as per the ICMR guidelines any person by paying a maximum fee of Rs 4500 can get the tests done in the private laboratories in the state however he pointed that many prosperous states including Karnataka have fixed the fee for test in private laboratories at Rs 2250. Marandi said that Jharkhand is a poor and a backward state therefore paying Rs 4500 in a private lab was no way justified for the people of the state whose economic condition has already declined to the Coronavirus.

He said that in Jharkhand the fee for the test in private labs needed to be kept below than that of Karnataka. He suggested that to increase the speed of the test of suspected patients the samples can also be tested in the private labs and later the state government should pay to them. He also raised the issue of problems being faced by pregnant women and patients needing emergency services for other diseases as private clinics and hospitals are refusing to treat the patients due to fear of coronavirus and pointed that when the test of suspected Covid-19 patients will be made free or available at cheap rate than the problem is also likely to be solved.
