Ranchi, Apr 9: With nine more patients testing positive for Novel Coronavirus in the state, the total number of patients suffering from the disease increased to 13 on Thursday.
Out of these nine, five patients are from Hindpiri area of Ranchi, while the remaining four are from Telo village of Bokaro district. Incidentally, all these patients were in direct contact with the cases, who had been earlier detected positive for COVID.
Health Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni has confirmed the development. District-wise, Ranchi has a maximum number of seven patients, Bokaro five and Hazaribagh one. The five new patients in Ranchi were initially admitted in the isolation ward of RIMS, from where they were later transferred to the COVID-19 ward, located at the Trauma centre. All these people came in direct contact with the woman, who was the fourth confirmed case of Coronavirus in the state and hails from Hindpiri area.
In Telo village of Chandrapura Block at Bokaro district, a woman who had returned from Bangladesh, had tested positive for COVID and all the four people who have now been confirmed as Coronavirus positive, came in direct contact with her. The four new patients have been shifted from the Quarantine facility in their village to Bokaro General Hospital. The state had reported its first positive COVID-19 case on March 31, when a Malaysian woman had tested positive for Coronavirus. (UNI)
