Ranchi, Mar 27 : Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Leader of legislature wing of BJP Babulal Marandi has written letters addressed to Chief Secretaries of 25 states urging them to help the people from Jharkhand who are trapped in their states due to the nationwide lockdown.
In the letter he wrote that in view of the epidemic Covid-19, pertaining to the directions and necessary orders for complete lockdown except notified exceptions for 21 days has already been issued and at this time, supplies of food and financial assistance to poor families is imperative and is the need of the hour and to be looked upon accordingly. In this connection, he has pointed that thousands of people from unorganised sectors who hail from Jharkhand are actually stacked under these cordoned hours.
These people under the placed circumstances herein are constrained to remain wherever they are currently in lieu of the lockdown duly ongoing in the country, he said. " It is hereby submitted that lakhs of people earning daily wages from unorganised sectors such as construction site workers, plumbers, electricians, taxi drivers, auto and cycle mechanics, weavers, carpenters manual rickshaw pullers etc are at utmost concern.
Consequently, I request that the Central Government which has already announced a payment of Rs 5000 to labourers registered with ESI shall accordingly be facilitated with the same without any delay," he wrote in the letter. Mr Marandi urged that along with the financial assistance as aforementioned, a helpline number in this regard may also be solicited. (UNI)
