Agency News

Ranchi, Mar 23: Despite the state government clamping a lockdown in the state as part of preventive measures against Coronavirus it seems the step has had little impact on the people who went about their routine job.

As soon as the shops opened for the day a large crowd of people was seen outside who had turned up to buy rations and other needs of home. In the state capital of Ranchi people in large number came out on the streets and roads and such was the movement of vehicles that a jam was witnessed on the Harmu Road with traffic police also issuing challan to those caught riding without helmets.

Despite the administration making regular requests for the people to stay in their homes people were out on streets buying milk, fruits and vegetables. It finally swung into action and soon a large number of policemen were deployed on the roads who asked the people to return back to their homes and even barricades were put up at Bharat Mata Chowk through which the people were asked to go back to their homes.

The autorickshaw as normal days operated on the streets of the capital while some of the buses also operated packed till the last space. However, on the main road of the state capital very less crowd was seen. For those who had reached the Ranchi Railway station, a medical board performed their screening after which they were allowed to leave. On the other hand, special team of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation was found sanitising the city and apart from the main spots even small by-lanes are being sanitized. The people involved in cleaning job also urged the people not to throw garbage any where.(UNI)
