Ranchi, Mar 23: Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Ravindranath Mahto today adjourned the house within few minutes after it assembled for the day and immediately called for a work advisory committee meeting in his chamber.

The meeting was called to discuss the situation prevailing in the state after a lockdown was declared yesterday night in wake of Coronavirus.

Earlier, as soon as the house assembled for the day, Bagodar Binod Kumar Singh(CPI-ML) moved work adjournment motion and demanded the house to hold discussion over the Coronavirus situation in the state. He said that despite the odd circumstances the house was still functioning.

He pointed that the workers hailing from the state were stranded in different states while some were also in the middle of their journeys. He alleged that the government had made no arrangements for poor people as despite the ration cards the people were not getting food grains. He also asked the MLAs to get in touch with the Prime Minister over the issue and asked the government to even take away the entire MLA fund if it was needed to provide help to the people.

Senior BJP MLA Neelkanth Singh Munda raised the issue of killing of an innocent tribal by police personnel and said that the government had not done anything for the family as neither the guilty have been punished nor any kind of compensation given to the family. He alleged that tribals were not safe in this government. (UNI)
