221 candidates to fight in 15 seats in 4th phase of Jharkhand polls

Ranchi, Dec 2: A total of 221 candidates now remain in the fourth phase of polls in the state during which voting will be held on 15 seats on December 16.

At the end of the stipulated time for withdrawal of nominations, nine were withdrawn. One candidate each in Bagodar, Sindri and Jharia and Baghmara withdrew their nominations while two candidates each in Gandey and Chandankiyari withdrew their nominations.

After the end of withdrawal process a maximum of 25 candidates were in Bokaro seat while a minimum of 8 candidates were on the Nirsa Seat.

The number of candidates on these 15 seats was as follows: Madhupur (13), Deoghar (SC) (12), Bagodar (13), Jamua (SC) (14), Gandey (14), Giridih (12), Dumri (15), Bokaro (25), Chandankiyari (SC) (17), Sindri (17), Nirsa (08), Dhanbad (22), Jharia (18), Tundi (13) and Baghmara (16).

The counting of votes will be held on December 23.

A total of 47,81,422 voters are eligible to cast their votes on these 15 seats which are spread across four districts of Deoghar, Giridih, Bokaro and Dhanbad. (UNI)
