In an untoward incident, Naxals have blown up a bridge in Bishunpur in Gumla district on Saturday. No injuries have been reported so far. Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan says that the attack has not affected the voting process. It is learnt that the Maoists’ blowing up of bridge in Gumla District came as a befitting reply to Amit Shah’s appeal to end Naxalism.
Meanwhile, to inspire voters, PM Narendra Modi in a tweet appealed to come out and vote in large numbers: "Phase 1 of the Jharkhand elections is in progress. I urge those whose constituencies go to the polls today to vote in large numbers and enrich the festival of democracy," said PM Modi.
