Ranchi, Nov 19: A total of 279 nominations were found to be valid at the end of the scrutiny process for the second phase of elections in the state where voting will be held on 20 seats on December 7.
At the end of the scrutiny process there were a total of 14 candidates on Bahragora seat, 16 in Ghatshila, 10 in Potka, 10 in Jugsalai, 24 in Jamshedpur East, 22 in Jamshedpur West, 7 in Saraikela, 19 in Kharsawan, 14 in Chaibasa, 17 in Manjhgaon, 14 in Jaggannathpur, 15 in Manoharpur, 12 in Chakardharpur, 17 in Tamar, 9 in Mandar, 12 in Torpa, 14 in Khunti, 11 in Sisai, 13 in Simdega and 9 in Kolibera.
The seats which will go into polls in this phase included Bahragora, Ghatshila (ST), Potka (ST), Jugsalai (SC), Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, Saraikela (ST), Kharsawan (ST), Manjhgaon (ST), Jaggananthpur (ST), Manoharpur (ST), Chakardharpur (ST), Tamar (ST), Mandar (ST), Torpa (ST), Khunti (ST), Sisai (ST), Simdega (ST) and Kolibera (ST).
These 20 seats are spread across 7 districts including Ranchi Simdega Khunti Gumla East Singhbhum West Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharsawan. Candidates can withdraw their names by November 21. Counting of votes will be held on December 23. (UNI)
