Ranchi, Oct 28: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and JVM(P) supremo Babulal Marandi has asked the Assembly Speaker to take cognizance of the defection of five MLAs to BJP pointing that they had not resigned from the house despite joining the BJP.
On October 23, Congress MLAs Sukhdeo Bhagat and Manok Yadav, JMM's Jai Prakash Bhai Patel and Kunal Sadangi and Bhanu Pratap Sahi of the Naujawan Sangharsh Morcha joined the BJP in presence of Chief Minister Raghubar Das, state BJP chief Laxman Giulwa and Hazaribagh MP Jayant Sinha, he said.
The five MLAs didn't resign from the house though morality demanded that they should have defected to BJP after vacating their Assembly seats, showing complete disregard for morality and decline in the democratic values in the state, Mr Marandi maintained.
The change of allegiance was also violation of the 10th schedule of the anti-defection law, therefore the speaker should take cognizance of the matter and cancel the membership of the house of these MLAs. (UNI)
