New Delhi, Mar 28: Following in the footsteps of state president Annapurna Devi, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Girinath Singh from Jharkhand joined the BJP in presence of Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at party headquarters here on Thursday.
After Ms Annapurna Devi, RJD Secretary General Rajkumar Yadav, State Vice-President Virendra Mehta and RJD Jhumariteliya Nagar Sangathan Secretary Shailesh Kumar Shalu also have resigned from the party.
On Wednesday, in a press conference, Girinath Singh shared the news of his resignation from the primary party membership. He indicated that he would continue to be active in social and political activities.
Jharkhand contributes 14 seats to forming the government at the Centre.
General elections in Jharkhand will take place in four phases -- on April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19. (UNI)
