Srinagar, May 24 : Two more persons, all residents of Kargil, were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of active infected cases in the Union Territory of Ladakh to six. Meanwhile, 43 Coronavirus patients have been so far discharged from hospitals after fully recovering. “Two Iran returnees, residents of Kargil, were tested positive for the infection on Saturday,” Ladakh UT spokesperson Rigzin Samphel said, adding the duo was already in institutional quarantine. “They have been shifted to an isolation ward in a hospital.
He said one student, who returned from Jammu, tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday. On Friday, two Iran returnees, residents of Kargil, were tested positive for the infection. Giving details, he said the total 49 people were tested positive for COVID-19 in the Union Territory. Of these, he said 43 have been cured and discharged from hospitals while there are still six active positive cases in Ladakh. “Leh has one active COVID-19 patients while Kargil has five infected patients,” he added.
The detection of fresh cases in the UT comes days after Ladakh was declared Covonavirus free. After remaining COVID-19 free for a few days, a fresh case was detected in Leh on Wednesday. (UNI)
