Srinagar, May 24 : A 55-year-old man, who was injured when a house collapsed at an encounter site in Srinagar on Tuesday, succumbed in a hospital, official sources said here on Sunday. This is the second death due to the incident as a 12-year-old boy, who was also injured in the house collapse, succumbed in S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar on Wednesday. Official sources said that the man, identified as Manzoor Ahmad Khan, a resident of Hawal in downtown Srinagar, died at SHMS hospital after battling for his life for about five days.
“Khan had suffered severe burn injuries,” they said. They said that as the people were clearing the debris of one of the houses destroyed in the encounter, a wall of an adjacent residence collapsed at Nawakadal, where Junaid Sehrai, son of separatist conglomerate Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman Ashraf Sehrai, was among two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants killed in the gunfight on Tuesday.
“Khan was among four people, including the 12-year-old boy, who were injured in the incident,” they said. Earlier this week, the minor boy, identified as Basim Aijaz, a resident of Chota Bazar, Karan Nagar in Srinagar, succumbed at SKIMS after battling for his life for over 24 hours on Wednesday evening.
