Minor boy injured in house collapse at Srinagar encounter site succumbs

Srinagar, May 21 : A 12-year-old boy, who was injured when a house collapsed at an encounter site in Srinagar on Tuesday, succumbed in a hospital, official sources said here on Thursday. They said that as the people were clearing the debris of one of the houses destroyed in the encounter, a wall of an adjacent residence collapsed at Nawakadal, where Junaid Sehrai, son of separatist conglomerate Tehreek-e-Hurriyat’s chairman Ashraf Sehrai, was among two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants killed in the gunfight on Tuesday.

They said four persons were injured in the incident, adding the wounded were rushed to a hospital. “After battling for his life for about 24 hours, one of the wounded, a minor boy, succumbed to the burn injuries at S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar on Wednesday evening,” they said. They said the minor boy has been identified as Basim Aijaz, a resident of Chota Bazar, Karan Nagar in Srinagar. (UNI)
