Jammu, May 19 : While the Jammu and Kashmir Government as per the new guidelines have allowed the opening of liquor shops in orange zones, Jammu and Kashmir Excise Department on Tuesday said that implementation of these guidelines may take some time.
“Tomorrow or the day after, wine shops have to open, but we will go through these guidelines and decision will be taken accordingly,” Rajeev Shravan, J&K Excise Commissioner here told UNI. Mr Shravan said that implementing directives issued in the fresh guidelines may take some time adding, “our exercise of checking stock at liquor shops is still on, new rate list is required and only after when the department receives order from the government, shops will be allowed to open.”
Earlier in the evening, when the fresh guidelines were issued by the government with a provision of allowing liquor shops to open, boozers welcomed the decisions and the social media flooded with ‘badhai’ messages. (UNI)
