25 new COVID-19 cases in J&K, tally mounts to 861

Srinagar, May 10 : An employee of Government Medical College (GMC) and a nurse were among 25 persons, who tested positive for Coronavirus on Sunday, taking the total number of infected people to 861 in the Union Territory of J&K. Meanwhile, 15 people were on Sunday discharged from hospital after being successfully treated in Jammu and Kashmir.

An official said that 23 more people tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir division while two new cases were reported from Jammu. ''Kulgam recorded the highest number of 10 new COVID-19 cases followed by Srinagar with 5 cases,'' he said, adding three persons tested positive for the infection in Shopian. He said Baramulla, Kulgam reported two new cases each while one person tested positive from Anantnag. ''Jammu and Kathua also reported one case each,'' he added. With 25 new cases, he said the total number of infected persons in J&K has risen to 861. ''Out of these, 790 are in Kashmir and 71 are in Jammu,''he said. He said the total active positive cases in the UT stand at 469, including 454 from Kashmir and 15 from Jammu. (UNI)
