Jammu, May 7 : Jammu District Administration on Thursday evening restricted the movement of any individual in Gurha Bakshi Nagar locality here in view of rising threat of COVID-19 cases. ''With relevant provisions under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005 restrictions with immediate effect are ordered in Gurha Bakshi Nagar area till further orders,'' Deputy Commissioner Sushma Chauhan said here in an order.
She said, ''no unauthorised activity of any kind or unregulated movement of any individual, for any reason whatsoever shall be permitted into and out of Gurha Bakshi Nagar area''. However, she said that for any medical emergency, individuals could contact 24X7 control rooms and necessary facilitation shall be done. She also said that order under section 144 of CrPC read with relevant provisions under Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005 in connection with apprehended danger to human safety - regarding.
''It has been made to appear to me, in view of the situation emerging due to COVID-19 in District Jammu, there is sufficient ground for proceeding under Section 144 of CrPC for immediate prevention or speedy remedy is desirable to prevent danger to human life, health or safety,'' she added. Three positive coronavirus cases were reported from the said locality on Wednesday. (UNI)
