Ladakh: 18 more test positive for COVID-19; Tally mounts to 24

Leh, May 3 :With 18 more persons testing positive for Coronavirus in the Union Territory of Ladakh on Sunday, the total number of active cases has risen to 24.

Meanwhile, as many as 17 COVID-19 patients have been discharged so far after being treated successfully in Ladakh. An official said that 18 new cases of COVID19 were reported from Chuchot Yokma in Leh. He said of the 24 positive cases, four are from Kargil and 20 are from Leh. “74 sample reports of Ladakh were received by the health department out of which 18 were positive and 56 were negative,” he added.

On Saturday, a Kargil resident, who was recently evacuated from Jaisalmer, tested positive for the infection. Giving details, he said so far 41 people, 33 from Leh and eight from Kargil, were tested positive for the infection in the UT. “Of the 41 people, 17 have been treated successfully and discharged from hospital,” he said. He said the total number of tests conducted in the UT stand at 2434, including 1668 from Leh and 766 from Kargil. “Results of 647 tests are awaited,” he added. (UNI)
