Leh, Apr 24: The third batch of 225 Iran returned pilgrims arrived in the Union Territory on Friday in a special Indian Air Force (IAF) flight after completing their quarantine period outside Ladakh.
With this, 487 Iran returned pilgrims have arrived in Ladakh during the last four days. However, official sources said that they would undergo another phase of 14-day administrative quarantine as a precautionary measure. 'The UT Administration announces the arrival of the third batch of 205 passengers at Leh,' Ladakh Divisional Commissioner and Secretary Saugat Biswas wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
The sources said 193 passengers are on their way to the Kargil quarantine facility and 12 of Leh to be quarantined in Leh. The first batch of 57 Iran returned pilgrims reached Kargil on Tuesday in a special IAF flight after completing their quarantine period in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, the second batch of 225 Iran returned pilgrims arrived in Ladakh on Wednesday in a special IAF flight after completing their quarantine period in Jodhpur. There are currently only four active COVID-19 cases in Ladakh, including three in Leh and one in Kargil, while 14 infected patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals.(UNI)
