COVID: 22 new positive cases in J&K UT, toll swells to 300

Jammu, Apr 16: With 22 fresh positive cases reported on Wednesday, the number of cases swelled to 300 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

As per bulletin released by the Government, the total number of persons tested positive in J&K UT touched 300 mark, with 22 new positive cases have been reported since last 24 hours including four from Jammu Division and 18 from Kashmir Division.

Moreover six more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged on Wednesday, four from SKIMS, Soura and two from DH Pulwama, said the Bulletin.

Meanwhile 56595 persons are under observation in the J&K UT, 7784 are home quaratntined, 270 under hospital quarantine.

Number of samples tested negative were 4871 while 260 were active positive cases.

The bulleting further said that although COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease which spreads fast and can infect any one and can be protected through social distancing, taking basic precautions for personal hygiene; frequent hand washing with soap & water; observing coughing and sneezing etiquettes and wearing mask or face cover while moving out.

People are requested to stay indoors, strictly implement social distancing measures, disclose recent travel history to COVID-19 affected countries and report any contact with positive cases voluntarily. Follow the rules of lockdown with utmost sincerity until May 3, 2020.
