Lockdown: J&K Police cop distributes books among needy slum kids

Jammu, Apr 11: Amid lockdown due to COVID-19, a police officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday distributed books among needy children in slum area of Gadigarh here on city outskirts.

Inspector Sohan Singh, In-charge Police Post Gadigarh visited slum area and distributed stationary items to poor children. He distributed colourful reading books, notebooks, pen, pencils, other stationary items along with packets of biscuits to more than 100 children. The officer said that initiative was just to spread awareness among the poor labourers and their families regarding the outbreak of COVID-19.

"We advised them to stay at home for the betterment of their families as well as the society," said Singh. Earlier also setting example for others, the officer helped a poor garbage collector getting him treated free of cost in a private hospital. "Being a Police Personnel, it is my prime duty to help the needy and make the general public aware about the effects of Panademic, if they did not maintain social distance," he added. (UNI)
