Srinagar, Apr 9: Security forces arrested a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant and recovered arms and ammunition from him in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said here on Thursday.
They said that following specific information about the presence of a militant, a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police, Army and CRPF at Chandoosa in Baramulla, late on Wednesday evening.
"During the operation, one JeM militant, identified as Bashir Ahmad Beigh, was arrested along with one AK-47 riflle and some ammunition,” they said, adding that a case has been registered and investigation has been initiated.
They said Beigh is being questioned and more arrests are expected in coming days. A top JeM commander, Sajad Nawab Dar, was on Wednesday killed in an encounter, which ensued when security forces launched a CASO in the apple township of Sopore in Baramulla. (UNI)
