Srinagar, Mar 5 : The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a warning for widespread moderate rain, snow and thundershowers in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir and scattered light snow in Ladakh region during the next 48 hours.
“Be prepared, updated and keep vigil" during the next 48 hours, a Met department spokesman said this evening. He said there could be widespread moderate rain and snow besides thundershowers in Jammu and Kashmir and scattered light snow in Ladakh region during the next 24 hours. There will be no large change in the weather during subsequent two days, he said adding this will be followed by scattered, isolated and fairly widespread rain or snow till March 11.
He said due to snowfall on upper heights and rain in plains, the maximum temperature witnessed drop resulting in cold. The day temperature was 0.6 degree to 3.8 degree below normal at different places in the valley on Thursday. The summer capital of UT, Srinagar, recorded 10.3 degree maximum temperature today which was 2.8 degree below normal.(UNI)
