However, strategically important road leading to border town of Gurez, and other villages near LoC remained closed due to heavy snowfall. Snow clearance operation was in progress from both sides of the Razdan pass to restore traffic on the road.

The snow clearance operation Machil-Kupwara road has been completed and traffic was allowed, an official of Police Control Room (PCR) told UNI over phone from Kupwara on Sunday. The Kupwara-Keran and Kupwara-Karnah roads have been already put through.

However, traffic on Kupwara- Karnah road was disrupted for several hours after a snow avalanche.

Latest machines were put into service and traffic was again restored on the road. Later all 80 stranded vehicles were allowed to move towards their respective destination till late Saturday. (UNI)
