Guru Nanak Dev was leader of whole humanity: Jitendra

Jammu, Nov 15: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Friday said that Guru Nanak Dev was a leader of whole humanity.

"Guru Nanak Dev Ji was not just a religious leader of a particular religion but a Guru for whole humanity," Dr Singh said after inaugurating five-day multimedia exhibition on 550th Prakash Purab (Birth Anniversary) of Shri Guru Nanak Dev here.

The Exhibition was organized by Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Government of India.

The multimedia exhibition depicts the life, teachings, sermons and philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev through digital displays and interactive interfaces to engage the public at large.

Various facets of Guru Nanak Dev's philosophy like 'Kirat Karo', 'Naam Japo' and 'Vand Chakkoare' were showcased in the exhibition.

Dr Singh in his address said that the year 2019 marked celebrations of many important events like 550th Praksh Purab of Guru Nanak Dev, 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, opening of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, abrogation of Article 370 and 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He said that Guru Nanak Dev was a social reformer and preached the principle of ‘Ek Onkar’ (One God), communal harmony, equality and brotherhood.

Dr Singh also said that the preachings of Guru Nanak Dev has relevance for people of all castes, creed and religions.

He further stated that it was the initiative of the Union Government that for the first time since independence, the celebrations for Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev were taking place throughout the country at an unprecedented scale.

He added that the Union Government was committed towards the welfare of all communities.

Neha Jalali, Deputy Director, ROB (J&K) and DD News Jammu in her address gave a brief outline of various programmes being organised by the department as a part of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev throughout the country.

TS Wazir, Chairman Gurudwara Prabandhak Board, J&K appreciated the efforts of ROB and expressed his gratitude towards Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and govt of India for organising such events throughout the country and especially in Jammu in order to familiarise young generations about the teachings and philosophy of Shri Guru Nanak Dev in the most attractive way.
