J&K LG hints at conduct of Assembly polls soon

Jammu, Nov 14 : Asking the police personnel to be prepared for a big responsibility, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu on Thursday hinted at early conduct of Assembly polls in the Union Territory.

"J&K is a UT with Legislature and soon, elections will be held and for that matter, exercise has already begun," Mr Murmu said, while addressing the Jawans at the Police Training Centre in Talwara area of Reasi district.

"You (police) have a big role to play in the days to come, as elections will soon be conducted here. You people are performing your duties with dedication and courage in this sensitive region and your role is highly appreciable," he added.

The LG appreciated the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police for bringing peace in the region, saying, "Election in J&K will be conducted soon and J&K police has a major role to play.

'Holding the elections soon is almost final and people will be informed accordingly, so that they elect their representative,' he added. (UNI)
