‘Delay in repairing technical snags leave BSNL customers in limbo

Agency News

Jammu, Oct 29 : The customers of the lone telecom service provider presently in Jammu and Kashmir, the government's own Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has left its users in limbo due to the ''delay'' in repairing the technical snags.

Mobile internet facility of all private telecom players was snapped in Jammu and Kashmir from August 5 after Government of India abrogated Article 370 but only broadband facility of BSNL remained operational.

However, the users of BSNL in Jammu and Kashmir particularly in Jammu were not happy with the working of the service providers due to delay in repairing technical snags, which remained unattended for weeks.

''My phone is working but 10-days ago, the broadband facility suddenly collapsed following which I have registered a complaint online on BSNL’s customer care and also to the nearby office but unfortunately, no positive action was initiated till date,'' a customer said. He added that being a journalist, he has to work either from home or office as mobile internet facility was suspended, but due to the snag, he has to remain mostly in the office for his official commitments.

The complaint rued the action of the BSNL and its officials, who were approached many times in this period but instead of looking into the matter, they pass on bucks to each other.

''Recently I had got a connection of BSNL fibre but after two days, it has developed a technical problem and its almost a week now, it has not been repaired,'' said a local customer.

He slammed the BSNL for introducing BSNL fibre in a scenario when they were not able to tackle the landline faults and said, ''the government must tighten noose against the telecom operators and those who are at helm of affairs because it is only due to such reasons, people have switched over to private operators, which landed the BSNL into hard waters economically.''

Not only BSNL was failing in repairing the technical problems timely but they were also short of staff, alleged official sources, ''BSNL presently has a limited staff and many retired people especially the linemen have been re-engaged for their services.''
''People are already suffering due to snapped internet facility in Jammu and Kashmir and such a situation, BSNL broadband and landline facility is the only hope but if it also fails to cater the customers, the working will hampered completely in all aspects'', they added.(UNI)
