Jammu, Oct 22 : A seminar organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Unity Foundation on the topic "Pakistan Invasion not Tribal Raid on Jammu and Kashmir-Oct 22, 1947,'' observed that infiltration of agents, terrorists, saboteurs supported by Pakistani army has been the classical strategy deployed by Pakistan to destabilise Jammu and Kashmir since its first failed mission in 1947 when it sent irregulars and disguised regulars to invade the State.

Protecting borders by stopping all infiltration across the LoC and IB into J&K and rest of India is an imperative necessity. Oct 22, 1947 invasion carries a cardinal message that borders can only be safe if we have the capability to stop infiltration, the panelist noted.

Various panelists who spoke in the seminar seventh in the series to observe Black Day on Oct 22 included Prof Hari Om, Ex-Dean and HoD History Department, University of Jammu and president Jammu for India, Yuvraj Gupta, a native of Kotli in POJK, Ghulam Ali Khatana, Vice President J&K BJP, Advocate Ankur Sharma, Chairman Ikk Jatt Jammu, Dr Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman Panun Kashmir, Tariq Shah, President, ‘Jiyo Aur Jeene Do’, NGO, Anil Padha, President Young Blood Association, Brig. He said had PM Nehru accepted the Maharaja Hari Singh's offer of accession before October 20, 1947, Pakistan would not have been able to annex J&K's 33 per cent territory and there would have been no Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Ladakh (PoJL) and no killing of almost a lakh of people.

He also urged people to not call the occupied areas as PoK as the whole of the territories under the illegal occupation of Pakistan belong to Jammu and Ladakh. These territories should be termed Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Ladakh (PoJL).

Yuvraj Gupta in his address remembered the sacrifices of lakhs of people of Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir during the turmoil. he narrated the valour and grit of the people of Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bhimber, Poonch, Rajouri who made huge sacrifices but did not give up to highly armed Pakistani army.

Ankur Sharma, Chairman Ikk Jatt Jammu said that Pakistan has been waging a ‘Jihad’ since 1947 against India to annex State of Jammu and Kashmir but failed time and again.

He said that recent speech of Pakistani PM Imran Khan in the United Nations has exposed the Rogue state completely. Pakistan is using Jihad as a state policy and the infiltration of terrorists into India is a part and parcel of Pakistan's war doctrine.
He said that people of Jammu and Kashmir have fought for 72 years for complete integration of the State into Indian Union and abrogation of Article 370 has resulted into that.

Dr Ajay Chrungoo in his address said, “We are in a very sensitive time after the neutering of Article 370 and reorganization of the state into two Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir”.

Pushing a large number of infiltrators in as Pakistan did in 1947 and subsequently in 1965 can serve once again as a modus operandi of Pakistan destabilize J&K again, he added and said, “the reports that infiltration is continuing in the north Kashmir needs to be looked into very minutely”. There can be no scope for under-estimating the enemy. Security forces have themselves accepted that number of terrorists inside has almost doubled, he maintained.(UNI)
