Suspected “powder” recovered from bus in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 1 : A joint team of Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army on Tuesday recovered suspected "powder" like substance from a bus here, sources said.

According to them, acting on a tip off, teams of SOG and Army conducted a raid in the bus stand area behind MLAs Hostels and launched a search operation on specific inputs.

"During searches, a suspected "powder" like substance was seized from a bus reportedly coming from Billawar area of Kathua," they said.

The quantity of the powder was believed to be 15 to 17 kilograms, the sources further said. "It was seized on the spot and shifted to the Forensic Science Laboratory to ascertain whether it was a gunpowder, explosive powder or the RDX", they stated.
Both driver and conductor have also been taken into custody and were being questioned, they added. However, Police has not issued any official confirmation so far.(UNI)
