Srinagar, Aug 28 : After remaining hot and humid during the last about couple of days, weather turned pleasant due to incessant rain early on Wednesday morning in the summer capital, Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley. A Met department spokesperson said that light to moderate rain will occur during the next 24 hours in Kashmir valley under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance (WD), which is active in the region. People woke up to a pleasant morning due to incessant rain in the wee hours followed by cloudy weather in Srinagar, where the maximum temperature dipped several degrees below normal.
However, as the day progressed, sun came out though the weather remained pleasant. Rain also lashed world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, resulting in dip in the maximum temperature. However, the ski resort is deserted after authorities asked tourists to leave Kashmir as soon as possible earlier this month. Former J&K chief minister and National Conference (NC) Vice-President Omar Abdullah, who remained detained since August 4, had alleged that tourists were ferried in buses out of Gulmarg and Pahalgam.
Weather turned pleasant in world famous health of Pahalgam, which remained deserted, due to light intermittent rain since early this morning. Rain also lashed Kupwara in north Kashmir, tourist resort of Kokernag, resulting in dip in the maximum temperature. UNI
