Jawan martyred, heavy damage to Pak Army posts

Jammu, Aug 20 : An Army jawan was martyred in cross border firing while heavy damage was inflicted to Pakistani Army posts across the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

"Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control in Mendhar and Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch," Defence Spokesman here said.
He added that in the exchange of fire in Mendhar sector, Naik Ravi Ranjan Kumar Singh attained martyrdom.

Naik Ravi Ranjan Kumar Singh, 36, belonged to village Gope Bigha, Tehsil Dehrionsone, District Rotasa, Bihar and is survived by wife, Rita Devi.

"Indian Army responded strongly and effectively. Heavy damage to Pakistan Army posts and casualties to Pakistan soldiers have been inflicted by own troops," he added.
