Jammu, Aug 15: Raksha Bandhan, the festival of bond and faith between sisters and brothers, was on Thursday celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm in the state.
Markets in various areas of Jammu city were abuzz with customers, especially women.
They were seen visiting various stalls to choose colourful and attractive 'rakhis' for their brothers.
On this day, brothers pledge to protect their sisters from evil.
All major markets in the city witnessed a heavy rush of customers besides long traffic jams.
Kite flying competition, like in other parts of the country, was also popular in Jammu city to mark the festival.
The sky was full of kites, with people standing on their rooftops amid hot and humid weather to enjoy the view.
Meanwhile, police have appealed to the people not to use, manufacture and sale of 'Manja or Gattu' (Chinese string) as the Government has imposed a ban on it. (UNI)
