Darkest day in democracy: Mehbooba Mufti

Agency News

As soon as Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the removal of special status for Jammu and Kashmir in Rajya Sabha, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti termed the new decision as the darkest day in democracy. Taking Twitter, Mehbooba Mufti, who is currently under house arrest, slammed the move: "It will have catastrophic consequences for the subcontinent. GOIs intentions are clear. They want the territory of J&K by terrorising it's people. India has failed Kashmir in keeping its promises," she said.

Massive chaos was witnessed in Rajya Sabha on Monday as the government announced a proposal to remove all provisions of Article 370, which guarantees special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
