Jammu, Aug 5 : Amid restrictions imposed in Jammu, people on Monday were in an upbeat mood soon after Article 370 was abolished in Jammu and Kashmir while celebrations marked the historic decision.
Soon after the Article 370, which gives special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, was abolished with the announcement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Lok Sabha, Jammu people in some parts took to the streets amid restrictions shouting "Modi-Modi" "Mota Bhai Zindabad" to celebrate the historic decision.
Activists of Dogra Front led by its president Ashok Gupta, dancing to the beats of drums, distributed sweets to people.
BJP state president Ravinder Raina termed the decision historic and said, "PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah has created history."
“The historic decision is in the interest of the nation," he said adding, "Mr Modi understood the pain of the people of Jammu." "We are thankful to him," he said and added that the people of Jammu with Mr Modi, Shah and the decision. (UNI)
