As the Jammu and Kashmir administration issued a terror threat in the valley, the period of Amarnath Yatra has been curtailed. But the details have not been revealed yet. Earlier in the day, the Army said it had information that Pakistan was planning to disrupt the annual pilgrimage.
Jammu and Kashmir administration also cited terror threat in the valley and gave advisory to Tourists and yatris to leave Kashmir as earlier as possible.
Recently, the government had put the Air Force and the Army on high operational alert in Jammu and Kashmir. Last week 10,000 central forces were sent to Jammu and Kashmir. As many as 25,000 troops of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were ordered to be moved to Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, in addition to the 10,000 troops which were deployed there last week.
Over 3.42 lakh pilgrims have darshan at the cave shrine since the commencement of the annual pilgrimage from July 1. In normal course, the yatra will be concluded on August 15. But as the unprecedented security threat from Pakistan, the Amarnath Yatra has been curtailed. The details are awaited.
