Srinagar, Jul 25 : All educations institutes, including Higher Secondary Schools (HSSs), reopened on Thursday after remaining closed for ten days summer vacation in Kashmir valley.The Private School Association had requested government to extend summer vacation for three days following wet weather prediction.''All the educational institutes, including primary, middle and HSSs, have reopened on Thursday across Kashmir valley,'' official sources said.Despite incessant rain since early morning, students in the summer capital Srinagar -- wearing colourful uniforms -- were enthusiastic about attending their classes and meeting their friends and teachers at school.
Meanwhile, the teachers were busy welcoming the students at their respective schools. Rejecting school association request to extend vacations, the Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department on Wednesday ruled out any extension in the summer vacation in valley schools. Social media was abuzz with rumours that the government has extended summer vacation in the valley.The government had announced summer vacation from July 15 to July 24 in all the government educational institutions and recognised private schools up to higher secondary level functioning in the Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu division.UNI
