Jammu, Jul 23 : Expressing concern over the reports of drug cartels active in different parts of the state, especially in this region and supplying drugs among youth thereby ruining their lives, Team Jammu--a body fighting against drug abuse, on Tuesday demanded plugging of all routes of smuggling from across the border, to save the younger generation from epidemic of drug abuse.
Presiding the meeting of volunteers, Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal expressed his resentment over the reports that despite claims of state police and its allied agencies dealing drug lords with iron hands, the drug mafia still active in different parts of the state and spreading tentacles as part of a sinister design to completely ruin the younger generation.
“If one studies the official figures of registration FIRs and seizures under NDPS Act at micro level, it becomes crystal clear that Drug lords having their mentors sitting in Pakistan are hell bent to spoil the youth of Jammu Province as they have realised that thirty years of terrorism has completely failed in lowering the spirit of nationalism among Jammuites. And now Pakistan’s ISI agency has introduced Narco Terrorism to virtually ruin the lives of younger generation,” he said and vowed not to stop its awareness campaign among the masses till Jammu region becomes a Drug free zone.
“We appreciate the record number of FIRs and seizures of drugs worth millions from different parts of the state but the million dollar question still remains unanswered that why all channels through which large contraband of drugs are pouring in from the neighbouring Pakistan have not been properly plugged, despite all intelligence inputs,” highlighted Chairman, Team Jammu, further questioned the government that what concrete steps have been taken so far to put a proper check in several parts of South Kashmir, where narcotics are being cultivated regularly.
How many FIRs have been registered so far against all those persons, who are cultivating drug crops?
