New Delhi, Jul 14: Lakshdweep Administrator Farooq Khan on Saturday was appointed as Advisor to the Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik, an official notification of the state administration said.
"Sanction is hereby accorded to the appointment of Sri Farooq Khan, IPS(Retd) as Advisor to the Governor, Jammu and Kashmir with effect from the date he assumes charge", the notification issued by the Secretary to the State Government reads.
His appointment shall be governed by the terms and conditions as applicable to other Advisors in terms of Government order issued on July 7, 2018, the notification further reads.
Khan, an IPS officer who was Inspector General of Police in the state, attained superannuation in 2013.
Jammu and Kashmir has been under President's Rule since June 2018 and it was extended again by the Union Cabinet on June 20 last month. The Parliament gave its nod to extension of central rule on July 2.(UNI)
