Jammu, Jul 8 : Amarnath Yatra was suspended on Monday from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas base camp here and no fresh batch was allowed for the cave shrine in view of restrictions imposed in the valley on death anniversary of former HM Commander Burhan Wani.
"As restrictions are imposed in the Valley on Monday due to death anniversary of Burhan Wani, the Yatra was suspended from here as a preventive measure," police sources here said. They said that the fresh batch will be allowed only after directions issued from the higher authorities.
Hizbul Mujahideen Commander in Kashmir, Burhan Wani, famous as poster, was killed on July 8, 2016 by the security forces in a gun battle which triggered protests for more than three months in the valley in which 85 people were killed and thousands injured. (UNI)
